L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation Review

Cushion foundations have been all the rage recently and I admit, I’m a bit late to the game, as I didn’t know much about them. Previously, this type of product was only available via high-end brands, but now there’s a version that will be available at a more affordable price point.

In this post, I’m going to share my thoughts on the new L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation that will be hitting stores this month. Note that I’ve been using this foundation everyday for the past week.

OVERVIEW

I was surprised by how much I liked this, as I’d never tried a cushion foundation before and didn’t know what to expect.

There are six shades available and my shade is the darkest of the lot. I have shade 11, which is a little bit dark for me, however I can make it work by adding some powder over the top.

This contains SPF 29 and the liquid foundation is saturated in the cushion. The first time using it, I didn’t know how to pick up the product properly and ended up with either too much or too little on the puff. After a few tries, I found it very easy to use.

FINISH/LAST

What I love about this foundation is that it feels natural and weightless on my skin while providing a light to medium coverage. However, I don’t think you can build it up to more than a medium coverage.

What I like and dislike equally about this foundation is that it provides a dewy finish. I feel the dewyness makes me look healthy and fresh like a goddess, but on days when I’m after a matte look, I won’t be reaching for this. If you prefer a dewy finish, you’ll absolutely love cushion foundation.

I’m very impressed by how long wearing this foundation is. Normally when I get home from work, I find that most foundations will show signs of breakage/seperate on my face but this one didn’t. It still looked fresh at the end of the day.

I’ve tried using this foundation with and without a primer and found that it didn’t make much of a difference on the lasting power for me.
With a primer (L’Oreal Infallible Mattifying Primer), it did change the finish to a bit less dewy to start with, but noticed that it became dewy after a few hours.

For reference, I have combination skin (a semi oily t-zone with very dry/flaky skin everywhere else)

APPLICATION

This foundation comes with an applicator puff, which you’re meant to use to glide and tap on for a natural glow.

I found the applicator puff to be a bit thin and when used to tap my face continuously, it got uncomfortable. However, with the puff included in the packaging, it makes it very convenience for on the go touch ups.

This foundation is very easy to blend and I prefer to use my beauty blender to apply, as I believe this gives me the most natural and flawless look.

PACKAGING

This foundation comes in a purple mirrored round compact, with two layers. When you open the lid, you’ll have a mirror and the top layer which holds the applicator puff. Tightly tucked underneath is the second layer where the foundation cushion lies.

This product contains 14.6g.

PRICE

Retails for $29.95AUD and is available at Priceline, Target, Chemist Warehouse and anywhere that stocks L’Oreal.

Note that L’Oreal is a brand that frequently has promotions, so keep your eyes out for those and you won’t have to pay full price.

OVERALL

I think this foundation is great and the price point is very reasonable. I love how natural it looks on my skin plus the lasting power is amazing. A definite must if you like the dewy glow look. However if you prefer a matte finish, then this one isn’t for you.
