I haven’t done a favourites post in a while and I thought I would do a “Quarter 1 2016” favourites, broken down into three parts.
1. Skincare & Bodycare
2. Nailcare & Haircare
3. Makeup & Other
Why three parts? Because there’s going to be a lot of products in each category and I didn’t want the post to be extremely long (win win for everyone).
As I get older, I try to make a conscious decision to take better care of my skin, this includes my best attempts to eliminate unnecessary chemicals from products I use. So, for my skincare and bodycare, I try to use natural products where possible. However sometimes, I haven’t found an option that has completely won me over, so I use “mainstream” products.
Lets get started, I’ll share with you my skincare and body care favourites from the last couple of months.
SKINCARE
Philosophy Purity Made Simple Facial Cleanser*
I’ve been loving this cleanser. My face feels nice, clean and so soft. Paired with my Clarisonic, it’s a match made in heaven. I also love the scent, it’s very refreshing yet only lingers for a few seconds. Definitely a winner in my books.
This is available at Mecca starting at $18AUD.
Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist
I’m crazy about this scent and want to spray it on my face 50 times a day. I don’t by the way, I only do it 42 times. Just kidding.
This is a quick “pick me up” that hydrates and freshen my face.
This is available at Jurlique starting at $35AUD.
Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Vitamin C Collagen Booster
I love using this each morning after cleansing my face.
With its orange scent, my face looks and feels very fresh. I don’t know how else to describe it then; it gives my face the kickstart it needs for the morning.
When I don’t use this, my face doesn’t seem as “alive”.
This is available at Sephora from $64AUD.
Grown Facial Moisturiser – Camellia & Geranium Blossom
This moisturiser absorbs well into my skin and has a non-greasy texture. It does have a light scent when I first apply it, but goes away after a few seconds. I like that it doesn’t interfere with my makeup. It’s a great moisturiser that does what it says it will.
This is available at Natural Supply Co for $34.95AUD.
Bioderma Micellar Water
Quick and easy way to remove makeup and cleanse the face. This is always my first step in my (night time) skincare routine.
Put some on a cotton pad, wipe all over the face (twice) and you’re done.
It does sting the eye if you get too much liquid in there, but if you’re careful, there will be no issues.
This is available at Priceline starting at $20.99AUD.
Clarisonic Mia 2*
I can say that this is the one product I didn’t even know I needed until I got it (seriously, what have I been doing with my life…?)
I only use this at night and when I first started, I only used it every other night, so that my face would get used to it (I highly recommend this method)
I use this with my Philosophy Cleanser and it worked like a charm. My face has never felt cleaner, fresher and softer before using this. It’s also help reduce the little bumps that I have around my jawline.
It’s a bit steep, but definitely worth the investment.
This is available at Mecca for $199AUD.
Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar Eye Cream*
I’ve been really enjoying this cream as it’s reduced the dark circles under my eyes and keeps this area well hydrated. Some eye creams irritate my eyes as I sleep and in the morning I wake up with blood shot red eyes or I struggle to open my eyes. This doesn’t cause me any irritations, which is a huge plus in my books.
This is available at Mecca for $55AUD.
Jurlique Rose Moisture Plus Revitalisting Gel-Lotion
Still loving this product and have repurchased. I’ve spoken about this before. See here.
Rosehip Oil
I use this every night, unless my skin is overly dry and needs something stronger. It’s been my trusted oil for a few years.
My skin feels softer and smoother, and on top of that, this evens out my skin tone and helped reduce my scars.
A few options that I rotate are
Trilogy ($19.99AUD) and Rosehip Plus ($19.95AUD)
The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil*
This oil is amazing, however I only use it when my skin is feeling very dry or tight, as the texture is a bit thick. Also, this has a very strong scent, it’s not unpleasant but I can’t really describe it. In saying that, it works wonders for when my skin needs that extra care. I put this on at night and my skin feels so good in the morning.
This is available at The Body Shop for $54.95AUD.
BODYCARE
Aesop Geranium Leaf Body Cleanser
This smells amazing and the scent lingers, which I love. It doesn’t overly foam or lather up much but most organic products don’t. My skin can be a bit sensitive at times and this has not cause any problems.
This is available at Adore Beauty from $25AUD.
Lani Tropical Body Treatment
A lightweight and nourishing oil that I use mainly on my knees and elbows. These are the parts of my body that usually feels dry or rough. A few drops of this oil and my skin is hydrated and soft. I love that it’s an oil but doesn’t have an oily residue, as it absorbs into the skin immediately.
This is available at Natural Supply Co for $32.95AUD.
Lavanila The Healthy Deodorant
I’ve spoken about this before, so I won’t go into too much detail. See review here
I’ve also tried the Vanilla Lavender and Vanilla Grapefruit and they are also amazing.
These are available at Natural Supply Co for $24.95AUD.
Lavera Deodorant with Organic Wild Rose
You may think that I’m a little obsessed with deodorants, well I am. A good organic deodorant is so hard to come by.
I’ve also been really enjoying this deodorant, it has a wet texture but dries quite quickly. It works well at keeping my “stink” levels at bay throughout the day, however I find that after roughly 8-10 hours, this needs reapplying.
I’ve been using it as a cheaper alternative to the LaVanila . However if money wasn’t an issue, I’d prefer the LaVanila one, due to the scent and dryness.
This is available at your local health store for $15AUD.
Share with me your skincare and bodycare favourites from the past few months, I’d love to know what you’ve been loving.
Until we meet again, stay beautiful.
