How To Deal With Sensitive Skin

My skin has been a bit temperamental these last few months, and I hold Melbourne’s ever changing weather conditions to blame. So suddenly, I found myself with overly sensitive skin and struggling to find products that worked well without irritating it further. Then I discovered the Avène Tolérance Extrême range, which has been developed specially for sensitive skin types.

On the Avène website, the product story goes as:

Skin care designed with the skin’s PHYSIOlogy in mind, it is composed of:
1) PHYSIO-compatible ingredients to mimic the skin’s composition
2) PHYSIO-refined textures for greater affinity with the skin
3) Sterile Cosmetics, a major innovation for skin care that focuses on what’s essential: MAXIMUM 7 ingredients and 0% of the nasty stuff like – preservative, paraben, emulsifier, fragrance, alcohol and surfactants.

I’ve been absolutely loving this range, as it’s been gentle on my skin, even gentle enough to use on my (I hate to admit it, but I got mildly sunburnt) skin.  The range consists of one cleanser and two moisturisers.

Avène Tolérance Extrême Cleansing Lotion

I hadn’t used a cleansing lotion in a while as I never found one that suited me. They always felt sticky afterwards and I wasn’t a fan, however this one is completely different. This no-rinse formula was effective in cleansing and removing makeup, whilst soothing my skin, leaving it feeling fresh and clean.
I do have overly sensitive eyes, so tend to use a different makeup remover for that area, but everywhere else, this baby is good to go!
This is available at Chemist Warehouse, Pharmacies and Adore Beauty for $47.95AUD.

Avène Tolérance Extrême Emulsion

I like to use this one on a daily basis as I prefer a lightweight texture that absorbs easily, without irritating my morning skin. This doesn’t interfere with my makeup, yet still moistures, hydrates and protects my skin, which is everything I want in a moisturiser.
This is available at Chemist Warehouse, Pharmacies and Adore Beauty for $49.95AUD.

Avène Tolérance Extrême Creme

I prefer to use this one on nights when my skin is feeling extra dry, as this formula is a bit richer than the Emulsion, yet still easily absorbed into my skin. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated and soft. I also use this on other areas of my body where I’m normally very dry, such as my elbow or knees, and this has worked better than other hydrating cremes I’ve tried.
This is available at Chemist Warehouse, Pharmacies and Adore Beauty for $49.95AUD.

    1. Ohh no! that’s horrible. I use micellar water to remove my eye makeup. I only put a little bit on the cotton pad, so that it’s just NOT soaking and then gentle hold on my closed eyelids for 5-10secs… Good luck!
